Part 1
The Amazon OA (average time – 90 minutes - 2 problems)
evaluates and assesses your knowledge of basic programming constructs, data structures, and algorithms, as well as your approach to problem solving, and the clarity, maintainability, and efficiency of your code.
You will be asked to solve two coding problems in your preferred programming language (choice of C, C++, C#, Go, Java, JavaScript, Kotlin, Objective C, Python, Ruby, Scala, or Swift).
Part 2
Workstyles Assessment (average time – 15 minutes)
1. Workstyles Survey: Typically takes 7 minutes; answer questions about how you approach software engineering work.
2. Amazon Workstyles Assessment: Answer questions about how you approach work in general, and whether that aligns with Amazon culture and Leadership Principles.
Part 3
Work Simulation (average time - 60 minutes)
The Amazon SDE Work Simulation is an interactive simulation designed to give you a window into a typical day in the life of an SDE at Amazon. During the simulation, you will be prompted with emails, videos, and instant messages from your virtual managers and team members to solve various problems. For each scenario, you will be provided with four to five viable options of how to respond and be asked to either rate the effectiveness of each response or select the single response that you think is the best course of action. Additional work materials will also be provided to help you make your decision, such as internal wikis, code snippets, and roadmaps.
Feedback Survey (average time – 5 minutes)
At the end of the Online Assessment, you will receive a survey to provide us feedback. We care about your experience during the process and your opinion matters to us.
